Hate MLPs? 2 Smart Alternatives to Invest In Midstream Infrastructure

April 3, 2018 – When you look at the investment options in the midstream oil and natural gas space, the field is chock-full of master limited partnerships. That makes sense, since these companies are structured to throw off tax-advantaged income to unitholders from the largely stable, fee-based assets they own.

But there are other options, and they pay dividends too… (more…)

Battered by Great Recession, Underfunded Public Pensions to Persist

March 26, 2018 – The sharp economic downturn that accompanied the 2007-2009 financial crisis weighed on core tax revenue, leading governments to pursue an unprecedented amount of reform measures to shore up pensions by boosting contributions and cutting benefits.

Saving remains an epic crisis, particularly for older Americans. According to the Economist, the median household of retirement age has just $12,000 in savings.

As a result, many are looking for opportunities to generate higher returns in shorter time frames, sometimes through alternative investments including venture capital, private equity funds, real estate investment trusts, and increasingly, cryptocurrencies. (more…)
